coach a team

Warm-up your spirit fingers, lace up your sneakers and inspire a group of girls to be strong and healthy. Teams of volunteer coaches facilitate our easy-to-follow curriculum with small groups of girls over the course of 10 weeks. Amidst the conversation, laughter, hugs and energy awards, you will witness transformational change in the girls and don't be surprised if you realize that you are positively changing as well!

volunteer at our 5k

The Girls on the Run 5K would not be possible without the help of amazing volunteers who believe in our mission and show up to support our girls. Whatever your special skills and talents, we have a role for everyone.

Race Planning Committee - Join us as we pull together all the details to make each race day special for our girls.

Each little girl will cross the finish line with a Running Buddy of her parents choosing. Sometimes we need additional community runners to pair up with girls.

committee opportunities

Looking to get involved or utilize your organizational skills in a meaningful way?  We have a place for you!   There is a lot of behind the scenes work that is done to keep our program going.

GO Team (Girls who are Older)Team - We are excited to incorporate the past generations of girls on our GO Team.  This committee of women does hospitality visits to our sites during the program, volunteers at events and sets an example of empowered women in our community.  We love the multi-generational connection this vibrant group of women creates with our girls.

Race planning Committee- manages all aspects of our two 5K events held in McHenry County and DeKalb County in May.

Feet on the Street Committee- helps us promote our program and events through various media platforms including putting posters up locally, passing out flyers and bookmarks at parades and events.  Volunteer time can be used to fulfill service hours requirements for high school or church organizations.  Volunteers can be as young as 14.

Development Committee - helps us with writing grants and gatherings sponsors.  They will assist us with our charity program, SoleMates.
